Lean Turkey Burrito Bowls

Lean Turkey Burrito Bowls are a high-protein, high-fibre, and nutrient-dense meal that fits perfectly into both fat loss and lean muscle gain phases. With a balance of complex carbohydrates, lean protein, healthy fats, and micronutrients, this bowl supports blood sugar control, recovery, and satiety—ideal for anyone focused on performance nutrition or body composition.

Ingredients

  • 300g lean turkey mince (93% lean or higher)
  • 1/2 cup cooked brown rice (or cauliflower rice for low-carb)
  • 1/2 cup black beans (rinsed and drained)
  • 1/2 cup corn kernels (fresh, canned, or thawed frozen)
  • 1 small red capsicum, diced
  • 1/4 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp olive oil (for sautéing)
  • 1/2 avocado, diced
  • 1 tbsp Greek yogurt or light sour cream
  • Fresh coriander, lime wedges (optional garnish)
  • Seasoning blend: 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add olive oil, red onion, and capsicum. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  2. Add the turkey mince and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and fully cooked through (about 6–8 minutes).
  3. Stir in the seasoning blend and cook for another 1–2 minutes to enhance the flavour.
  4. In a serving bowl, layer brown rice, turkey mince, black beans, corn, and avocado.
  5. Top with a spoonful of Greek yogurt, fresh coriander, and a squeeze of lime if desired.
  6. Serve warm or store in the fridge for up to 3 days for easy meal prep.
